Artist Emily King
I was lucky enough to meet Emily King at last year's Evo Conference. She is super cool and an extremely talented artist who creates these amazing cut paper images. I am especially drawn to this one because I cannot believe that my little baby is almost 10 months old! Having two kids has been a bit of an adjustment, making life even more busy, but I also love it in every way. I can hardly remember what life was like without our little girls. I also really dig her snow series. See more of her work here and check out her etsy shop too.

I'm excited to see the Pioneers of American Industrial Design forever stamps coming out, they would look fantastic on an envelope. They come out tomorrow at USPS and big props to the stamp designers lately.

Getting Better...
I hope to be back to posting regularly next week, we've had a doozy of a week with strep revisiting our house, me and the little Miss have been under the weather. I don't believe I've ever been sick in the summer, it really stinks. Both doctors we visited said there is a big outbreak and they've never seen so many cases lately, weird huh? We are on the mends and I hope that you all will have a great and relaxing weekend!

The Seed Cathedral

Have you heard about the award winning Seed Cathedral created by Heatherwick Studio for the Shanghai Expo in 2010? I came across it recently and it blew my mind along with all of the other work from Thomas Heatherwick's Studio.
For the Seed Cathedral they showed off thousands and thousands of seeds collected by the Royal Botanical Gardens in these stunning transparent acrylic rods that glowed and moved with the elements. How breathtaking and what an undertaking! Since the Expo, the sculpture has been dismantled but it is remarkable to look back at the shots and video clips. It is truly inspiring work.

Bright and Happy Kitchen
The home renovation of Bob Williams from Traditional Home is really great, although I am especially drawn to the kitchen. The floor and pops of unexpected color and materials are wonderful -- and that stove, yes please!

Dancing in the Flowers...
Welcoming in summer today with these photos that make me smile. Who wouldn't want to dance in tons of tulips with brightly colored clothes and tutus on? (Hehe.)

10 x 10
Have you hear of 10 x 10? It is my new favorite way to follow the news. Every hour, they scan the RSS feeds of several leading international news sources and a sophisticated algorithm identifies the most important words of the hour mentioned along with corresponding images. What I really like about it, is that it is more than just the news, but a historical timeline record. Want to go back to a certain date? You can click history (up till November of 2004) and see what went down.
I also really dig the part that it is compiled without human input so there isn't any hidden agenda in who is delivering the information. The website has also won numerous awards for great web design.
What do you think? What is your favorite news source?

DIY Cardboard Boat
Do you ever have cardboard boxes that you don't know what to do with? How about build an awesome fort or kid's cardboard boat! A long time ago a sweet reader from Japan sent me this photo of what they made for their son Hugo and while going through some files today I came upon it again! Isn't it rad?! Next time we have some boxes lying around I know what we'll will be making. Thanks Ruth for sharing.
Designer Eating by Marije Vogelzang
Crossing design and food Marije Vogelzang looks at food through a very creative perspective. Her long list of accomplishments include designing dinner parties and eating experiences, a product line full of quirky cool edibles, social projects for hospitals and restaurants, a couple books that I hope to someday get my hands on, and a restaurant with two locations in Amsterdam called Proef! I am very happy to come across Marije and her team's work, it is phenomenal eye candy that is conceptually inspiring.

Rainbows
I couldn't help but pull off the side of the road and take a shot of this vibrant rainbow while driving the other day. They are so magical!

I pre-ordered these Brass Number clips from Baum-kuchen (cool shop!) and am anxious to use them because I am using the most random things to keep my places in multiple books lately. What do you use as a bookmark?

Music Monday : The Kill Van Kulls
Here's one for Music Monday from a new to me electro-pop band The Kill Van Kulls out of Manchester called 'Lost and Found'. It has a little bit of an '80 edge and I like the modern dancing in the clip and the surprise pops of color at the end.
Thoughts?

Google Logo
I love it when Google plays around with their logo -- today has been my favorite by far. It is interactive and in honor of Les Paul. You can even record a little strum. What an awesome tribute, go Google!

From Sea to Shining Sea...
The new silkscreened American flags map from These Are Things is really rad. Those fun colors, patterns and cute flags... just looking at it makes me want to plan a road trip! The European touring maps are something I've had on my wish list too. Ah maps, why do you get me every. single. time.

Natural Chic
I am a bit behind on going through my magazine stack, but I dig Keri Russell's home as shown in Elle Decor. The combo of wood, metal and neutrals are lovely and it feels rather French to me. Love it, what do you think?

Our new favorite pancakes
Over the weekend we made these pancakes from 101 cookbooks a favorite go-to site for yummy healthy recipes and this recipe sparred with our other favorite healthy pancake recipe and came out victorious. They were fluffy, tasty, and somewhat healthy as far as pancakes go. If you like blueberries, the syrup is delicious too!
The secret I think is the white whole wheat flour. I love that stuff, because you get all of the nutritional benefits yet it isn't as heavy as the normal stuff. Speaking of flour, other ones I like are whole wheat pastry flour, and buckwheat flour and I haven't tried it yet, but I have some whole wheat spelt flour in my pantry.
Have you tried a variety of different flours? What is your favorite? Oh and do you have a favorite pancake recipe? I'm all ears....

A thing for stripes
One of the many things that pinterest has taught me is that I have a slight ... wait, major thing for stripes (well, and also polka dots). I find myself drawn to them again and again, I have for quite a long time. Today I'm feeling extra stripey. What about you, anything you find yourself repeatedly drawn to even if it is in style or not?

Beauty in Nature
These works of art in nature from the environmental artist Stuart Frost are remarkable. Can you believe seagull feathers make up that first work?
Also, I can't remember where I first came across this amazing video clip about nature below, but it pretty much knocked my socks off, maybe even made my eyes water a smidge. I am in constant awe at the mysteries and wonders of nature!
"Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." ~Kahlil Gibran
This clip is stunning too! I hope you will have an extraordinary weekend, we hope to get out in nature and go on a long bike ride!
