Molly M Designs

Molly M Designs

Molly M Designs has a wide collection of unique and eye catching lasercut jewelry and also an expanding line of fine paper goods. Molly McGrath's background in architecture gives these items a welcomed added measure of depth with modern geometries and nature being apparent in the design inspiration.

I never knew jewelry with sustainable resources such as bamboo, wood, and suede could be so intricately beautiful. Her new large lasercut prints would make a phenomenal statement on a wall too. Aren't they all so pretty?

Maia Hirasawa

Maia Hirasawa

Today I came across the Sweedish singer Maia Hirasawa and oh my, this girl can play the piano. She seems to have a bit of a whimsical edgy feel and she reminds me of Regina. Have you heard of her and her music? I believe her album came to the states this year.

This video is directed by Magnus Renfors and Christian Haag.

Peaches and Nectarines from France

Hope you had a nice weekend. Here is a photo of some yummy peaches and nectarines from a French market. This morning as I sat down to access my photo archives to share some more French goodness, I just realized that I may have lost quite a few photos in a upgrade :(.... I hope they are still there... I hope, I hope... crossing my fingers. Advice to all ... backup, backup! (Argh, I wish I would have been better about that.) Nonetheless, Happy Monday.

Sarlat

Sarlat

While staying with Steph we would go into Sarlat a few times a week when they had market days. It was thrilling to be in such a lovely French medieval town with a vibrant market, it was everything and more than I imagined. Cobblestone streets, gorgeous old (fairly untouched) stone buildings above, and delicious produce and other yummy things all around. A pure delight!

My brother and sister-in-law had their sweet baby girl this last week and I bet she is going to be a very musical one with all of her parent's talents. Here they are playing and singing in their band Adding Machines. Also check out their venue and recording studio Muse Music if you are in UT area. Congrats Jake & Melissa!

Peter Pan Party

Here are photos from the Peter Pan inspired party that V attended last night. Didn't my friend Caitlin do such a good job? The birthday boy was Peter Pan and check out his little brother Smee, he was one of my favorites, well... they pretty much all were. It was great how at the beginning of the party she outlined all of the kids in their costumes and then hung up their shadows, and the chocolate cake she made from scratch was utterly scrumptious.

Road Trip

We're headed on a road trip to Chicago and Indiana (near Notre Dame) in a few weeks to visit family. Any recommendations of places to go? I've only explored a tiny bit of Chicago (mainly Armitage Avenue) and would love any tips. It will be interesting to see how this road trip compares with last time. I love the extremes of the city life vs. the very rural (even Amish lifestyle) and the quiet vs. the loud. It is going to be a fabulous trip.

Vide greniers

Steph took me all over the region to these "vide greniers" which are like huge community french garage/tag sales. They happen all the time and there are even books and guides as to which day they are going down in each town. It was exciting to see unique finds and interesting people, I will have to share a few of my small paper/stamp related finds soon. These two below I wish I could have fit into my luggage. I also loved the decor of the tissue banners at this particular one, and that sweet car parked nearby that I even think was for sale too.

Parties + Photography

Isn't this utterly cute yellow party by Lorajean and the below red party very simple, elegant, and inspiring? I adore the idea of having a color theme! Parties are definitely on my brain lately...

Come to find out, LoraJean is not only a great party planner, but also a fantastic photographer. I love the below family portrait she did of her sister and family Merrilee of Mer Mag, both of these sisters have creative and delightful sites to peruse.

Homemade Costume

Today I've been working on a Tiger Lily costume for a Peter Pan party V is going to this evening. Although I am not quite finished I try to get quick photos in when I can, she is a busy girl! The last few nights I've also been helping my friend draw and paint a London mural skyline for the party, it really is going to be a lot of fun! We can't wait.

Making this, got me thinking about doing another homemade costume for Halloween. I am normally a very last minute costume idea person, so I am wondering ... are you thinking about Halloween costumes yet? Do you make your own?

Crucial Conversations

While attending Education week I am going to a lecture series from the authors of this book, "Crucial Conversations". The book is a fascinating study about communication and behavior, and has really changed the way I view various relationships in my life. (More about the book here.) Have you read it? What are some of your favorite books that have changed the way you think, communicate, and behave?
